My mom is now obsessed

Yes, she loves cats & me of course...but since finding out about the iPhone app CatPaint from blogger Catsparella  it is game over folks! No one is safe, no one, place or animal. Since I am in control of this method of self expression I have allowed for this one photo today. She first got me into position at the window with "here look it's your squirrel friends!" tap tap tap at the window & of course I fell for it. SNAP went the iPhone & BAM! Meows & lasers sounds filled the air. My once green serene view of birds & squirrels is now "enhanced" with ..."hilarious fun!"

You may just be able to make out one of the squirrels on the grass as he runs in terror from the orange cat & his talons of fire!

I understand that there are many cat apps, which I am sure will find there way to my my moms phone sooner or later but until then...Be warned animal & human friends...CatPaint will find you!

June is Adopt a Shelter Cat Month!

Of course I had to write about this after all I came from a shelter & awesome animals come from shelters! As June draws to a close don't forget there is still time to help out a feline somewhere by adopting, promoting adoptions & or volunteering your time!
5 TIPS TO HELP CATS

So just how many of cats can one female produce if not spayed? There are various sources for this info. Here is a visual!

So remember to spay/neuter always as there is no excuse & you will help save thousands & thousands of lives. I understand the number of homeless cats in the US is up to about 80 million? I can't even comprehend that? In Canada it is estimated in the 100 of thousands but likely more.

So until cats develop the ability to self-spay or neuter (now that would be a great leap in evolution wouldn't it?) it is up to you people to help us out & we will give you our unconditional love, devotion & gratitude forever!

In honor of this month if you live in Toronto check out Toronto Animal Services
Spring Fling where cat adoption fees are $25 until June 30th!

No you didn't!

Well folks yes I did. Asparagus didn't even know what hit it! I managed to whisk a fully cooked piece of it, marinated in olive oil & garlic, from the plate on the kitchen counter. Mom wasn't to happy & promptly rushed in, she heard the thump as I hit the floor, removing the offending piece of vegetable from me - whole.

Of course the concern "was it toxic?" as many human foods can be, so to err on the safe side she chose to dispose of it - the garlic, which is not good for a cat, & oil likely would have not agreed with my system in the long run. Here is a list of HUMAN FOOD NOT GOOD FOR CATS

Apparently I am not the first to chomp on asparagus & other felines have enjoyed a piece or two sans garlic & oil.
Since I enjoy plates so much mom got me these fab raised dishes so it feels like I am eating with the adults as they say. I do enjoy a piece of cheese from time to time & have even tasted hummus. Alas the green stuff is heavily guarded from this point on.

We are family....

No matter who you are human or non-human (animal) we all want to belong & feel loved. Coming from the shelter where I had many family & friends to a home where I was part of a family was major. It didn't take me long to become part of a new household either. I automatically got a new mom, sister Cleo the tri-colored tabby & brother Simon the black cat.

At time of writing both of them have passed over to the rainbow bridge Cleo in July 2008 & Simon just last year August of 2010. I now suffer from OCS (Only Child Syndrome) as my mom calls it. Cleo was definitely the boss lady of the house & she well, loved me in her own way as they say. Simon was my best buddy & brother who accepted & welcomed me without reservations.  Yes, that's us here...

I know it's still hard for mom to think of that day & for me also, he was the only brother I have ever known. Simon & Cleo were part of my life for a long time & part of my new beginning so I will always have them close to me. Simon was a caring soul who made way for a boisterous, young thing always grooming, sharing  & loving.  Wow, writing this now I realize just how lucky I was & am.
It was 5 years of being part of big family, fun adventures, laughs (we brought 3 times the laughter to our humans) & of course lots of love. I know that people say we eventually forget but I like to argue differently. It's not that we forget, it's that we are able to move on a little easier because we know that goodbye is just see you later.

I hope to have another brother or sister one day, until then I am content with my humans, birds, squirrels & occasional cat visitor from outside - check out the mysterious Grey Smoke...
